The filing period for candidates running in the March 15th primary election ended Monday.
Incumbents were the only ones to file for county offices.
Seeking re-election will be Rex Catron, Republican, for circuit clerk; Chris Bauer, Democrat, for state’s attorney, and Anthony Brooks, Democrat, for coroner.
The supervisor of assessments position will be on the ballot for the first time. No one filled a petition to be a candidate for that office. After the primary, persons will be able to file as independent candidates and/or the political parties can nominate candidates.
Georgia Shank is the current supervisor of assessments, having been appointed to the position by the county board. In November of 2014, voters in Bond County decided to make the supervisor of assessments position an elected one.
Two seats on the Bond County Board will be filled by voters next year. Only incumbents filed petitions for the primary.
They are Frank Lucco, Democrat, in District 1, and Eldon Young, Democrat, in District 3.
