Families And Animals Rescued In Breese Area

Area firefighters rescued several families Monday night north of Breese. According to Breese Fire Chief Bob Wuest, they were called about 8:30 p.m. Monday to Rod and Gun Road north of Breese to rescue a man with water surrounding his home. Firefighters responded and got the man from his home safely.

They then found five other homes threatened by rising water. Wuest said they requested mutual aid and firefighters from the Aviston, St. Rose, and Beckemeyer Fire Departments responded. With waters already five to six feet deep, they brought ten other people and some animals to safety. They were on the scene about three hours.
