Greenville To Submit New Application For Enterprise Zone

Greenville has until the end of this year to submit an application to the State of Illinois for a new enterprise zone.

Enterprise zones are designed to stimulate economic growth through state and local tax incentives.

A required public hearing was recently held at the Kingsbury Park District office. Greenville City Manager Dave Willey said the meeting was less than 30 minutes long and very few people were in attendance.

Greenville’s application, submitted last year, was turned down because its zone was not expiring this year.

The city manager said the territory for the enterprise zone is exactly the same, but the application consists of a few changes. Updated statistical information has been added, which may be viewed more favorably.
