Illinois Unemployment Rate Rises

According to the Illinois Department of Employment Security and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Illinois unemployment rate in November rose three tenths of one percent to 5.7 percent.

IDES Director Jeff Mays said the increased unemployment rate is primarily the result of more people reentering the labor force looking for work.

The Illinois unemployment rate is higher than the national rate reported for November, which was at five percent.
