Mulberry Grove School Board Approves Tax Levy

At their meeting Tuesday, the Mulberry Grove Board of Education approved a 4% tax levy increase for 2016. There was basically no difference from the tentative tax levy approved at the November meeting and Superintendent Brad Turner said the anticipated income to the district is $1,278,189. That amount may fluctuate if there is a change in the equalized assessed valuation in the district.

In the treasurer’s report, Superintendent Turner said general state aid payments are coming in on time but there has still been no categorical state aid payment for transportation or special education. Turner said he anticipates a payment before the end of December as was the case a year ago.

Following a closed session, the board hired Kate Alderman as elementary basketball coach and Susan Hall as elementary cheerleading coach.
