Seven Children Taken To Hospital Following Highland House Fire

Seven children were taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland Tuesday morning following a house fire on Olive Street in Highland.

Highland firefighters and EMS responded to the home in the 1900 block of Olive Street at 10:19 a.m. Tuesday morning. Crews arrived to find heavy fire coming from two windows in the first floor living room.

Seven children were in the home at the time of the fire and all were taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland. Two were subsequently transported to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis for further treatment. The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Officials report the fire extended into the attic of the home and took 45 minutes to extinguish. The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.
