The Bond County Community Unit 2 board of education has approved a motion to hire BLDD of Decatur as the architect to complete the school district’s health-life safety 10-year survey.
Six of the 11 firms, responding to the request for qualifications, were interviewed by Superintendent Wes Olson and Unit 2 Buildings Director Mike Wilhite. Both recommended BLDD.
Further negotiations will determine the cost for BLDD’s work. The health-life safety plan for school facilities is required by law.
BLDD was the architect for the construction of the Greenville Junior High School.
It was reported the district has received the second installment of real estate taxes from Bond County. Due to when that money was received, the board had to approve an interfund loan of $5,000 from working cash to the debt services fund to cover November copier lease costs.
While the exact figures were not available, the board decided to authorize Transportation Director Sean Traylor to approve the low fixed prices, when they come available, for diesel fuel and regular gas to be used next year.
South Central FS was the only firm to submit bids. Traylor told the board he prefers the fixed prices so he is able to budget fuel costs.
