Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) recently announced the appointment of Beth Govero, RN, MSN, CMSRN, as Interim President and CEO of HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland, effective January 18.
Govero has more than 15 years of nursing and progressive leadership experience and currently serves as Chief Nursing Officer of St. Joseph’s. She will handle daily operations and leadership of St. Joseph’s Hospital.
As a leader, Govero has led patient care services, and improved staffing initiatives and colleague engagement. Under her guidance, St. Joseph’s was recognized as one of five hospitals statewide during the Illinois Hospital Association Institute for Innovations in Care and Quality’s 2015 Quality Excellence Achievement Awards.
Govero previously served as the Director of Nursing Operations at HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville, Nurse Director for Surgery Services with Barnes-Jewish Hospital, and adjunct faculty at the Goldfarb School of Nursing in St. Louis. She holds a Master of Science in Healthcare and Nursing Administration and is a Certified Medical-Surgical Nurse. She is Lean Six Sigma Certified and is a Doctoral candidate at Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville.

Govero will serve in the interim role while HSHS and the St. Joseph’s Board of Directors’ Search Advisory Committee conduct a search for a permanent President and CEO.
