In their meeting this week, the Bond County Board approved a motor fuel tax resolution in the amount of $450,000 for 2016. The board also approved weight limits of 5 tons per axle for all Bond County highways, effective January 15 through April 15.
Jeremy Pestle of the Bond County Highway Department requested the board approve the purchase of a Ford F150 for engineering purposes. The state bid was for $28,030 from Wright Automotive in Hillsboro, following a trade-in credit of $3,500 for the highway department’s 2005 Expedition. Board member Gerald McCray suggested the board table the matter, so they could look into the purchase of a ¾ ton pickup, which could be passed through the department’s fleet as it ages. The board voted 4 to 1 to table the vote, with Wes Pourchot casting the “no” vote.
