At last week’s Greenville City Council meeting, City Manager Dave Willey announced that the trash and recycling contract with Doty Sanitation of Beecher City expires on March 31st.

The council decided to advertise for bids on a new contract.

Willey presented the council an information sheet showing the prices paid by residents in area cities the size of Greenville. The Greenville fees were the lowest at $12 per month for regular customers and $10.75 for senior citizens.

The city manager said he anticipates a new contract will result in higher rates. He noted there has not been an increase in Greenville for eight years.

City officials plan to develop bid specifications that will include the continuation of the recycling program.
