According to Madison County Coroner Stephen P. Nonn, there were 77 drug related deaths in Madison County in 2015 down from 92 in 2014. Of those 77 deaths, 43 were due to suspected heroin overdoses, an increase over 26 in 2014.

Coroner Nonn said, “It is disappointing to see the heroin numbers rising. We will continue with our drug take-back days in conjunction with the sheriff and state’s attorney and school presentations and hopefully plant seeds today that will bear fruit tomorrow.”
