Miss Madison County Fair, Peyton Gehrs of Highland, was the first runner-up at the Illinois County Fairs Association state queen pageant over the weekend.
She is the daughter of Matt and Jill Gehrs. Peyton is a 2013 graduate of Highland High School and is currently a junior at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
She told WGEL it was a busy weekend at the state pageant, but receiving the honor was a dream come true.

Queen Gehrs said she is committed to promoting agriculture in Illinois and she is studying for agriculture-related degrees.

Kayley Woker of Greenville represented Bond County in the state pageant.
Brooke Earnest, Bond County pageant director, said Woker had a wonderful time and was very prepared for her interview, adding that Queen Woker did a phenomenal job giving her speech.
Eanest said she and fair board members were very proud how Queen Woker represented the county. The current Miss Bond County is the daughter of Craig and Jan Woker of rural Greenville.
