Mulberry Grove Schools Get First Categorical State Aid Payment

On Tuesday, January 19, Superintendent Brad Turner said in his treasurer’s report to the Mulberry Grove Board of Education the district received the first categorical state aid payment of about $80,000.00 for transportation and special education. The district received the payment December 28.

A parent addressed the board with a concern about the length of time some students are on the bus in the morning and afternoon trips to and from school. Some students get on the bus about 6:40 a.m. and have a ride of more than an hour to school.

The board approved the 2016-2017 school calendar, they set high school graduation for Saturday, May 21, at 2:00 p.m., and passed a motion supporting the Bond County sales tax increase proposal for school facilities.

Following a closed session, the board accepted resignations from Steve Swain, Head Mechanic, and Kathy Graeney, Speech Pathologist. They hired Rachel Brewer as high school girls’ softball assistant coach.
