The Bond County Community Unit 2 Board of Education will hold a special meeting Monday at 6:30 p.m. in the central office conference room on North Hena Street.
The only topic of discussion will be a program, recently presented by the state, to offer federal funds to pay interest on building bonds.
Unit 2 Superintendent Wes Olson told WGEL school districts can apply for the federally-backed bonds, which can be used for construction, renovation or purchase of land. Olson said the district is currently looking into a variety of updates to facilities and the option of applying for these interest-free bonds was brought up. The meeting Monday will involve completion of an application for the bonds. Olson specified that action taken at the meeting will not mean the district is issuing bonds.
