The Bond County Soil and Water Conservation District will be hosting a Nutrient Loss Reduction Strategy (NLRS) workshop March 2, 2016 from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm. CEUs are being offered. This workshop will include lunch and provide background information on the Nutrient Loss Reduction Strategy. Landowners will learn from experts about the importance of NLRS and why it’s important to Illinois agriculture. Topics will also include the role of cover crops in reducing nutrient losses and improvement of soil health, USDA programs to help manage nutrients on your farm, Bond County SWCD equipment & soil sampling services, and much more.
Speakers will include Jean Payne, Executive Director of the Illinois Fertilizer and Chemical Association, Kris Reynolds, Cover Crop Specialist with the Illinois Council on Best Management Practices, Justin King, NRCS Soil Conservationist, and Roger Marcoot, Bond County SWCD Conservation Associate. Vendors will be available after the presentation to give more information on their products. This year’s Nutrient Loss Reduction Strategy workshop will be held at the Greenville First Christian Church Family Life Center on Killarney Drive in Greenville, Illinois.
