Car Hits Pedestrian & IDOT Worker On I-64 Exit Ramp

A motorist who was standing near his vehicle following a crash and an IDOT traffic control worker were struck on an Interstate 64 exit ramp Wednesday afternoon.

According to information from the Illinois State Police, a 2006 Mercury, driven by a 39 year-old male from East St. Louis, was involved in a single car crash on the Illinois 111 westbound exit ramp from Interstate 64. An IDOT Emergency Traffic Patrol truck driver, a 52 year-old male from Belleville, was on the scene to assist with traffic control.

The owner of the Mercury and the IDOT driver were standing on the right shoulder of the exit ramp when for unknown reasons, a silver 2003 Chevrolet, driven by a 21 year-old female from Belleville, struck both men. They were taken to a St. Louis area hospital in serious condition.
