Greenville City Council Restructures Sweetest Things Loan Payment Agreement

The Greenville City Council has restructured the revolving loan payment agreement for the Sweetest Things business.

The vote was 4 to 1 with Councilman Jess Adam voting “no.”

The council agreed to reduce the monthly payments for two years to make them more manageable. City Manager Dave Willey said this will allow the business to become stable before returning to the original monthly payments.

He said the modified payment schedule will increase the term of the loan. Willey said there is approximately $25,000 still owed.

The city manager reported that negotiations will begin soon on a new contract for those in the police and telecommunicators union. The current 3-year contract expires on June 1.

The council has vacated an alley, running north to south, between 816 and 840 West Franklin Avenue. This was done at the request of Corey Hilpert, who owns both lots. The vacation of the alley, from Franklin Avenue to Railroad Street, was contingent on Hilpert granting a 15-foot easement for the existing sewer line that runs west to east.
