Children in a small town in Macoupin County discovered human skeletal remains Monday.
According to information from the St. Louis Major Case Squad, Monday, February 15, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Macoupin County Sheriff’s Officers responded to the 7200 block of Illinois State Route 159, in Plainview, Illinois. Plainview is a small town about four miles northeast of Shipman, in Macoupin County. The children discovered the skeletal remains while playing in the area and told their parents who called the sheriff’s office. Evidence at the scene leads investigators to believe the victim likely died as a result of a homicide.
The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis is investigating through the Bunker Hill Police Department. The identity of the victim is unknown at this time pending forensic examination.
