Lemuel Rhodes Cancer Foundation Kicks Off Another Year Of Fundraising

The kickoff event for the 2016 fundraising efforts of the Lemuel Rhodes Cancer Foundation was Saturday morning at the Greenville First Christian Church.

Supporters of LRCF gathered for a free breakfast and program.

The LRCF Celebration of Life Festival, which culminates the year of fundraising, will be held Saturday, September 24th from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the American Farm Heritage Museum. This year’s theme will be “You’ve Got a Friend.” The goal for the year of fundraising is $55,000.

It was also announced that a new fundraising event, known as Bling Out Bra, will be held from June through the Celebration Of Life Event in September.


It is a competition for the best decorated bra. There will be an entry fee and persons will be able to vote at $1 per vote.

Cash prizes will be awarded for the top three places.

More information will be forthcoming.

Other upcoming fundraisers will be a Trivia Night on April 1st, a cookout on the Thrift Shop parking lot on May 6th, and operating a food stand at the Hummingbird Festival in June

At the end of the program, the LRCF choir sang a rendition of “You’ve Got A Friend” with the lyrics changed to emphasize the goal of the foundation to help local cancer patients.
