Better Local Voter Turnout Than Usual

Voter turnout in Bond County on Tuesday was better than usual for a primary election.

The final total was 36.17 percent. That means 4,472 Bond County residents voted.

Bond County Clerk Randy Reitz was pleased with the turnout for a primary. He said the turnout for the last primary was “down in the teens.”

With the general election in November, Reitz said residents have plenty of time to either register or correct their voter registration information.

In the county, there were over 500 persons who used the grace voting provision or voted early. More than 50 of the grace period voters visited the county clerk’s office on Election Day when they realized they were not officially registered to vote.
