A Nutrient Loss Reduction Strategy Workshop was held Wednesday in Greenville.
The program focused on a federal guideline for the state of Illinois to have significant reductions in the amount of nutrients entering public waters.
Emily Hartmann, coordinator for the Bond County Soil and Water Conservation District, said it was a very good workshop with a great turnout. She said people attended from Bond as well as surrounding counties.

One of the featured speakers was Jean Payne, executive director of the Illinois Fertilizer and Chemical Association.
She said the nutrient issue is important for all land owners, rural and urban. She said since Illinois is a major agricultural state, we have an opportunity to be a leader in the field.
