Brush Fire Near Pocahontas Burns Five Acres

Pocahontas-Old Ripley Firefighters responded Tuesday, at 5:08 p.m., to a report of a brush fire along Old Ripley Road in rural Pocahontas.

According to Fire Chief Dennis Lindley, the owner was burning some brush and the fire got out of control. About five acres were burned but there was no damage.

Shoal Creek Firefighters provided mutual aid with manpower, tanker, and brush truck.

No injuries were reported and they were on the scene a little more than an hour.
