County Board Approves Courthouse Lawn Use Requests


At the most recent Bond County Board meeting, Debbie Neer and Swamp Weiss of Greenville approached the board to request the use of the courthouse lawn for a bluegrass music festival on Saturday, May 14. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Elm Point Veterans Memorial for burial expenses for prior service members. The request was unanimously approved.

The board also approved the use of the courthouse lawn and gazebo for two car cruises, organized by Larry Snow of Greenville Auto Body. The car show dates are May 7 and September 10.

Thomas L. Steiner was appointed to the Maxey Cemetery Board for a lifetime term. An opening on the Pocahontas-Old Ripley Fire Protection District board for a three-year term was announced.

Board Chairman Howard Elmore announced the county had received a bill for recent repairs to the courthouse boiler in the amount of $3,600.
