Lauren Robison was selected as the District FFA Proficiency Winner in Agriculture Education. Lauren is a member of the Mulberry Grove FFA Chapter of the Illinois Association FFA. Illinois FFA recognizes students in fifty-two different areas based on their work-based learning, also known as Supervised Agriculture Experiences or SAE. FFA members who demonstrate outstanding agricultural skills and competencies through record keeping, leadership, and scholastic achievement may be considered for this award. SAEs allow students to learn by doing by either owning and operating an agricultural business, working or serving an internship at an agriculture-based business or conducting an agriculture-based scientific experiment and reporting results.

Lauren was selected as the District 4 Winner by a committee of agriculture industry representatives and teachers knowledgeable in this work-based area. Lauren is the daughter of Kevin and Emily Hartmann of Mulberry Grove.

Receiving this honor now makes Lauren eligible to compete in the State FFA Awards Selection process in Urbana-Champaign on April 2, 2016. Lauren was previously chosen as the Chapter and Section awardee is this area.

She has been involved in the following FFA activities and leadership roles: Mulberry Grove Chapter President, 2015 Section 19 Sentinel, Agriculture Sales, Job Interview, Prepared Public Speaking, and Dairy Judging. Matt Elam is the agriculture teacher and FFA Advisor at Mulberry Grove High School.

Lauren will receive a plaque for her accomplishments. These plaques are made possible by gifts by individuals, businesses, corporations and organizations through the Illinois Foundation FFA.

Other Mulberry Grove FFA students competing included Ross Tompkins (Grain Production Placement), Kyle Blankenship (Diversified Crop Production Placement), Kylea Vohlken (Swine Production Entrepreneurship), Brandon Atkinson (Home and Community Development), and Kate Dugan (Emerging Agriculture Technology). Vohlken, Atkinson and Dugan each placed second in their SAE. Robison also interviewed for District Star in Agribusiness Placement and received second.
