Pi Day Food Drive = Pie In Teachers’ Faces At GHS

GHS Teachers (L to R) Jennifer Dannaman, Theresa Lindell, Ann Burton, Erin Shevlin & Jim Romack

Students threw cream pies in the faces of math teachers at Greenville High School Tuesday afternoon.

It was all part of a special event to help the Bond County food pantry.

Math teacher Erin Shevlin told WGEL that to celebrate Pi Day (Pi is a mathematical figure that begins with 3.14), the students were asked to bring in canned food to contribute to the Bond County Food Pantry. Everyone who did was entered into a drawing for a chance to “pie a teacher”.

A total of 482 cans of food were collected for the food pantry, far surpassing the goal of 314. Students assembled in the auditorium to watch the math teachers stand on stage and get pies in the face.

In addition to Shevlin, the teachers were Ann Burton, Theresa Lindell, Jennifer Dannaman and Jim Romack.
