The Bond County Community Unit 2 Backpack Food Program has been in existence for over a year, providing food to students, through 8th grade.
District Nurse Carissa Bohannon is involved with the program and explained that the kids receive meals for two days as well as snacks and drinks in the backpack. In the case of a holiday break, or other lengthy breaks from school, food is delivered or can be picked up by parents.

Bohannon said donations of non-perishable food and cash can be taken to the Greenville Elementary School.
