Council Real Estate Agreement

The Greenville City Council has entered into a real estate listing agreement with the firm of Barber Murphy to market property in the Howard Wolf Industrial Park.

City Manager Dave Willey told WGEL the city has been marketing the property for a long time, looking for more leads. Willey said the number of leads that the city has received from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and other entities has “diminished considerably over the last couple of years”.

Willey said there are numerous advantages of using Barber Murphy, a commercial-industrial realtor that operates in Illinois. He said Barber Murphy will actively market the property, through its website, email blasts, and other avenues.

The city manager said Greenville has a parcel of about 118 acres in the industrial park that is available. He said it could be divided in a number of ways depending who needs property.

The agreement provides Barber Murphy a six percent sales commission on the property, which has a list price of $1.77 million dollars.
