Greenville FFA Banquet

Section Proficiency Award Winners: Cheyanne Hulvey, Scott Woker, Nathan Stearns, Kimberly Lovatto, Hunter Mills, Danielle Somraty, Skylor Snow, Joshua Pierce, and Mitchell Langham.

The 60th annual Greenville FFA Parent and Member Banquet was held recently at the First Christian Church in Greenville. Special awards were presented to members. Many in the organization received recognition and adults were recognized as honorary members in the Greenville FFA Chapter.

Recipients of the Greenville FFA Honorary degrees were: Chris and Kim Krankel, parents of chapter reporter Brooke Krankel, and Glen Marti, an active FFA Alumni member. The honorary FFA degrees are presented to individuals who have provided extra assistance in the organization.

Special awards were given to several FFA members, including:

FFA Chapter Scholarship Award: Adam Cruthis

Leadership Award: Mitchell Langham

Activity Award: Brooke Krankel

Work Award: Kimberly Lovatto

Star Greenhand: Shelbi McCray

Outstanding Member: Brooke Krankel. (This award is named in memory of Craig Turley.)

Dekalb Award: Mitchell Langham

Mitchell Langham, Kimberly Lovatto, Brooke Krankel, Joshua Pierce, Danielle Somraty, and Ashley Manning were recognized for receiving their State FFA Degrees in June.

Senior members receiving chapter scholarships were Cheyanne Hulvey, Mark Ayers, Matt Barbey, Tyler Thiems, Mitchell Langham, and Danielle Somraty.

Activity T shirts were presented to the top five students in each year in the FFA. The recognition is based on involvement in various activities during the past year.

T shirt recipients include:

First year: Levi Siebert, Cole Wall, Chad Stearns, Brad Beckert, and Grace Young.

Second year: Shelbi McCray, J. T. Thiems, Amber Blackmon, Chandler Schaefer, and Logan Hilmes

Third year: Kimberly Lovatto, Caleb Gaffner, Skylor Snow, Brooke Krankel, and Taylor Snow.

Fourth year: Mitchell Langham, Danielle Somraty, Joshua Pierce, Mark Ayers, and Scott Woker.

Chapter Proficiency award winners included:

Shelbi McCray – Swine Production

Mitchell Langham – Turf Grass Management, first at Section and third at district. Mitchell was also the Section Star in Agriculture Business.

Hunter Mills – Fiber and Oil Crop Production, Diversified Crop Production Placement, Grain Production Placement and Grain Production Entrepreneurship, placing first at Section and third at District.

Danielle Somraty – Star Chapter Farmer, Diversified Livestock Production Entrepreneurship, Poultry Production and Specialty Animal Production placing first at Section and second at District.

Delaney Rogier – Goat Production

Skylor Snow – Dairy Placement, first Section and second District.

Brooke Krankel – Small Animal Production

Maddey Tebbe – Beef Production Entrepreneurship

Ashley Manning – Equine Science Entrepreneurship

Kimberly Lovatto – Chapter Star in Ag Placement, Equine Science Placement, first Section, third District.

Cheyanne Hulvey – Food Service, first Section and third at District.

Scott Woker – Forestry Management and Products, first Section and first District and second at State.

Joshua Pierce – Ag Mechanics Design and Fabrication, Wildlife Production and Management, first Section and third at District.

Drew Jackson – Vegetable Gardening

Chris Morgan – Agriculture Services

Nathan Stearns was first in Landscape Management at Section and third at district.

J. T. Thiems – Diversified Crop Production and Diversified Agriculture Production.

FFA Advisor Steve Zimmerman recognized the FFA Officers for the past year.

Presented plaques were Mitchell Langham, president; Joshua Pierce, vice president; Caleb Gaffner, secretary; Skylor Snow, treasurer; Brooke Krankel, reporter; Kimberly Lovatto, sentinel; Shelbi McCray, parliamentarian; J. T. Thiems, historian; and Danielle Somraty, chaplain.

Greenhand Officers for the year were Chad Stearns, president; Cole Wall, vice president; Grace Young, secretary; and Levi Siebert, Reporter.

Guest speaker for the evening was Kolton Kimpling, Reporter of the Illinois FFA Association.
