Greenville FFA Hosts Dairy Judging Event At Fairgrounds


Many dairy cows and over 200 students spent Friday at the Bond County Fairgrounds in Greenville.

Greenville High School hosted the FFA dairy judging competition with students from four districts attending.

Steve Zimmerman, Greenville FFA advisor, told WGEL students from Monticello to Mt. Vernon were involved in the event. Zimmerman thanked local dairy farmers for bringing their cattle to the event.

Greenville has hosted the dairy judging event for 12 to 15 years, according to Zimmerman. This year’s state dairy judging contest will be held at Kaskaskia College near Centralia.

The Greenville FFA Dairy Judging Team placed first in the contest.

Team members were Taylor Huels, who took first; Brennan Woker, who placed second; Tyler Snow, who was sixth; Blake Doll; Leah Betts; Andy Cruthis; and Chandler Schaefer.

Taylor, Brennan, Tyler, Cole Wall, and Grace Young will compete this Friday at the state dairy judging contest.
