Two State Parks Closed

According to State Senator Kyle McCarter, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources informed him recently of the indefinite closure of the Ramsey Lake State Park and the Horseshoe Lake State Park near Granite City.

The parks are closing because the state has not paid electric, utility, and trash bills.

McCarter said this is just an example of the major problems facing state government. He said the only way out of the crisis is making tough decisions about policies and priorities, which means government must live within its means, just like families and small businesses.
