Saturday’s Bluegrass Festival in downtown Greenville was held to raise funds to help offset burial expenses for veterans throughout the area.
An event organizer, Debbie Neer, said there was a crowd throughout the day to hear the performers. She thanked the musicians for donating their time.

Neer said another festival, called the Halloween Palooza, is being planned in about five months.

Halloween Palooza will be held before Halloween and not on the same day as the annual Downtown Trunk Or Treat.
Neer said there is definitely a need for assistance to veterans’ families.

Neer has heard there are organizations in other area counties who have heard about this cause and are planning fundraisers to help veterans in those locations.
She said the local group will be providing funds for the first veteran burial in Bond County in a couple of weeks. Donations can be sent to the Soldiers Memorial, care of First Bank at 200 West Main Avenue in Greenville.
