Carlyle Fire

Firemen were sent to The Wise Company in Carlyle at 4 a.m. Wednesday.

The company manufactures boat seats and is located in the northwest part of Carlyle along Industrial Drive.

Carlyle Fire Protection District Chief Kevin Rolfingsmeyer said the sprinkling system worked properly and by the time firemen arrived the fire was out. There was, however, smoke throughout the building.

The fire started in the rear of the building where the seats are made. Chief Rolfingsmeyer said the cause of the fire has not been determined at this time.

Fire damage was limited to one table and a dumpster, according to the chief.

The fire alarm automatically called the sheriff’s department, which contacted the fire department.

Assisting Carlyle firefighters were firemen from the Huey-Ferrin-Boulder Department and the Beckemeyer Fire Department, as part of the departments’ automatic mutual aid agreement.

Chief Rolfingsmeyer said firemen were on the scene three to four hours, using fans to draw smoke out of the building.
