Pig & Pie Palooza

Counselor Carrie Ackerman brought in the most money for the fundraiser, earning her the chance to kiss Rowdy the Pig, held by owner Missy Vohlken

The Prairie Counseling Center’s Women’s Empowerment Group held a “Pig and Pie Palooza” Friday at the Bond County Health Department. The group raised a total of $309.77, which was initially slated to help offset the cost of a free screening of “The Heroin Project” at the Globe Theatre.

The movie is a documentary, made by film makers from SIUE about the heroin epidemic in Madison County and the surrounding area.

Thanks to a donation from the Bond County State’s Attorney’s Office, the funds raised through the Pig and Pie Palooza will now be used for additional projects for the Women’s Empowerment Group

The Heroin Project screening at the Globe Theatre will be Saturday, May 14 at 10:00 a.m. Doors open at 9:30 and admission is free.
