Volunteer Day At SJH Breese

HSHS St. Joseph’s in Breese took the opportunity of National Hospital Week, May 8-14, to thank the nearly 500 volunteers who serve in various capacities on and off the hospital campus throughout the year.

The Monday, May 9, ceremony opened with a meditation by Pastoral Care’s Kim Stryjak of Trenton (pictured above, center) while Director of Volunteers Judy Schrage of Breese (pictured above, standing left) served as Mistress of Ceremonies.

Among those at the podium were hospital President and Chief Executive Officer Paulette Evans. “We recognize that it takes all of us, with our individual personalities and skills, to make our healing ministry possible,” Evans said in thanking the volunteers for their efforts. “From Ambulatory Surgery to the Women and Infants Center, from Book Sales to Quilters, all of us play a unique but vital role.”

Also speaking was hospital Marketing and Communications Director Brian Moeller who expressed his thanks for all volunteers and specifically for those who assisted with the recent health fairs, noting that more than 2,000 area residents took advantage of the screenings offered at the various locations this spring.

Auxiliary President Kathie Heimann, hospital Medical Imaging Interim Director Stephen Morris and hospital People Services Director Rob Otrembiak, who serves as Volunteer Services’ administrative liaison, also expressed heartfelt appreciation for the volunteers’ support.

The week-long celebration also included Patient and Colleague Appreciation Days, Mass, and presentation of service awards.
