The Bond County Board has been hearing reports in their recent meetings from the new Animal Control Officer, Jim Hess. In their meeting Tuesday, Hess presented his May 2016 report to the board.
Last month, Hess received a total of 50 animal complaints, 32 of which came from within the Greenville city limits. 20 dogs were impounded, 6 from Greenville. Five cats were impounded, all from Greenville. Of the impounded dogs, six were released to owners. No cats were released to owners. One animal was released to the Bond County Humane Society, 13 animals were released to other no-kill shelters, and two were adopted from the Bond County animal shelter.
No dogs were euthanized in May. 3 cats were euthanized.
Hess responded to four reports of wild animals, such as groundhogs and bats, all four of which were within the Greenville city limits. Six animal bites were reported in May, four in Greenville.
