Willey said Bill Walker has extensive written, verbal and visual skills to assist in telling the Greenville story. Being an accomplished photographer, Walker will bring that skill to the promotion of Greenville and its business opportunities.
He graduated from SIU-E with a degree in business and marketing.
The city manager said it is important to have a local resident in the position, since most of the economic development in the community has come from existing businesses. He said people with relationships already established in the community help with local businesses.
The city’s economic development coordinator makes calls to prospective clients who may want to open a business in Grenville; responds to inquiries received by businesses, industries, and site selection professionals; and visits existing businesses to make sure they have what they need to do business in Greenville.
