Combine Fire Near Panama

Shoal Creek Fire Protection District firefighters were sent to a combine fire southwest of Panama Monday afternoon.

Fire Chief Kent Priddle said the older, small combine was being used to harvest wheat in a field. The engine caught fire and burned, but Priddle said it did not appear any of the wheat was damaged by fire.

Shoal Creek firemen were sent to the scene along Oak Road, about 1:20 p.m. Monday. Greenville firemen were contacted for mutual aid.
