HHS Student Is Sheriff’s Association Scholarship Winner

Marissa Wheeler, a senior at Highland High School, is the recipient of the Madison County Illinois Sheriff’s Association Scholarship.

Marissa scored a 31 on her ACT test and will graduate with a 4+ grade point average. She plans to attend Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville to study Pre-Med (Bio-Chemistry).

Marissa is an Illinois State Scholar, SIUC Leaders and Scholars Reception Recipient, ICCA Scholar Athlete, and was on the High Honor Roll all four years of high school. She participates in cheerleading, Spanish Club, National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Student Council, and the Future Medical Careers Club. Her community service projects include Special Olympics, Family Math Night, Relay for Life, and Angel Food Ministries.

Nearly 30 students applied for the $500.00 scholarship and Madison County Sheriff’s Office staff members selected the recipient.
