Mulberry Grove Board Of Education Approves Amended Budget

At the recent Mulberry Grove Board of Education meeting, Superintendent Brad Turner presented the amended 2015-2016 budget. Turner said there is still deficit spending in most categories but amounts are considerably less than a year ago. The board approved the amended budget.

In the financial report, Turner said the fourth categorical state aid payment for transportation and special education is vouchered with the official payment date of June 30. He said he is optimistic about receiving the payment before the end of the fiscal year June 30.

The board approved renewal of the property and casualty insurance contract with a premium of $92,630.00. There is about a 5 – 6 percent increase over last year of about $5,400.00. The board reviewed proposed handbook changes. They approved a 90, 80, 70, 60 grading scale, updated senior trip guidelines, and increased some fees.

Following a closed session, the board hired Samantha Leidel elementary teacher, Jim Quick head high school volleyball coach, and Kevin Millikin assistant junior high baseball coach.
