Beginning Friday, July 1st, the one-cent school facilities sales tax will begin being collected by businesses in Bond County.
Bond County Community Unit 2 and Mulberry Grove Unit 1 will benefit from the sales tax.
Unit 2 Superintendent Wes Olson said the district is looking forward to the additional income, which can only be used for facilities and will take the burden off the operations and maintenance fund.
Olson said it is estimated the school district will begin to see funds in October, which will be a big help given the state’s budget situation.
