The WGEL listening area received some much needed rain Sunday night.
At the front end of the precipitation, was a series of severe storms, some of which passed through close to home. Just after 6:00 p.m. Sunday, the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for eastern Bond and southwestern Fayette Counties. The storms started quickly and passed through fairly quickly. We didn’t receive any reports of damage, however due to the extremely dry ground, many people commented on the massive amounts of rain rushing down Greenville streets.
The initial severe storms stopped just as quickly as they started, prompting the National Weather Service to cancel the severe thunderstorm warning about 20 minutes early.
