Three Semi Rollovers In Fayette County, One Fatal


An O’Fallon, Illinois man was fatally injured Tuesday, June 28 on I-70 east bound at the 79 mile marker. The man was identified as 58 year old David Foltz. Foltz was driving a tractor trailer, left the roadway on the right, and came back across, overturning in the median. Foltz was trapped in the wreckage and extricated by St. Elmo and Brownstown Fire Department personnel. Foltz was pronounced dead at 6:59 a.m. by Fayette County Coroner Bruce Bowen. The crash remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police and Fayette County Coroner. An autopsy is scheduled to determine the cause of the crash.

Since May 26, the Fayette County Coroner’s Office has investigated three fatal crashes on I-70 between the 69 and 79 mile markers. On June 28th between 2am and noon there were three Semi rollovers, including the one resulting in Foltz’s death.
