The Bond County Sheriff Department received reports of a wrong way driver on I-70 around 4:00pm Saturday. Many cell phone calls came in reporting a wrong way driver in a black pickup truck, however; by the time the deputies arrived in the area the driver could not found.
One of the 911 phone calls reported that the driver had flipped the truck over near the 41 and 42 mile markers, and Bond County EMS and the Greenville Fire Protection district were called into service. By the time emergency personnel could arrive, the truck had reportedly gotten back on its wheels and the driver drove away. According to the Sheriff department the driver of the truck was allegedly making circles on the interstate by crossing the median and going back the other direction. Deputies caught up with the truck and driver stopping him and turned the driver over to Illinois State Police where they transported him to a hospital. No other information has been released at this time, and thankfully no one else was hurt.
