A two-vehicle crash Monday, July 25, sent one person to the hospital.
According to Illinois State Police, Cassie Beckert, age 27, of Alhambra, was westbound on Rt. 108 in a 2006 Ford approaching the intersection of Standard City Road in rural Montgomery County. Charles Best, age 49, of Ruston, LA, was the driver of a semi-tractor trailer, which was stopped on the side of the road just east of Standard City Road. The semi was partly on the road while the driver was performing maintenance on the trailer. Beckert’s car struck the rear of the semi. She was extricated and airlifted by ARCH to St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
Beckert was cited for alleged failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and Best was cited for alleged improper parking on a roadway.
