Bond County AMVETS Post 140 held a special program Tuesday night in recognition of its 25th anniversary.
Illinois AMVETS Commander Rich Shea, Jr. said there are about 70 AMVETS posts in the state. He commended those involved with the Bond County organization.

Greenville Mayor Alan Gaffner honored the group and gave special mention to current Commander Tony Koonce, praising his passion for the organization over the years.
Gaffner said Koonce has responded to the call of duty and represents the organization well.

He said the group is proud of the accomplishments of the past 25 years and appreciative of those who supported their efforts.

AMVETS Post 140 is involved in many fundraising efforts and patriotic programs. It was behind the creation of the Bond County Veterans memorial, located on the courthouse lawn.
