Another storm system swept through the WGEL listening area Tuesday night.
The majority of the weather came from a large storm system moving from the northwest to the southeast. That pattern yielded a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for western Madison and northern St. Clair Counties as well as several counties in Missouri. At the same time, a few small but strong thunderstorm cells moved from the southeast in a northwestern direction. Those systems dropped heavy rain in the Greenville area around 8:30 p.m.
We fielded reports of blinding rain from listeners on rural highways in the Bond County area, but no reports of any damage in our listening area from the weather.
At one point, around 100 Ameren Illinois customers in Bond County were without power. Several hundred Ameren customers in Madison County and over 1,000 in St. Clair County lost power.
