Negotiations have been underway on a new cable television franchise agreement between NewWave Communications and the City of Greenville.
City Manager Dave Willey said the city wants to revise the franchise agreement to include data and telecommunication services.
The city council has extended the current agreement for one year.
Willey told us the council has gone back and forth with New Wave Communications numerous times and the differences settle around the issue of fees.
He said the 12 month extension will give the city the opportunity to explore more options.

Willey told the council the number of cable subscribers is shrinking which has resulted in less revenue.
Councilman Mike Heath commented he also believes the city needs to explore all options and find what is best for the citizens and the city.
