Public school administrators throughout Illinois are rejoicing that the Illinois legislature and governor approved a state budget last week for fiscal year 17. It increases school funding for the entire year.
Bond County Community Unit 2 Superintendent Wes Olson said the district should be able to continue to provide high quality educational opportunities for all students.

Olson said this is the most the state has received in the past seven years. He said the doomsday scenarios for the district can now be set aside and the focus can be on balancing the Unit 2 budget.

The Unit 2 superintendent said that with a state budget passed, the district can also expect federal education funds to keep coming.
