Head-On Crash in Litchfield Claims One Life


The Illinois State Police report that a head on crash on Route 16 in Litchfield claimed the life of a 49 year old Carlinville man. Police say that 49 year old Robert Reiher and 18 year old Madeline Reiher were traveling westbound on Route 16 Saturday evening around 7:48PM on a motorcycle. Police allege that 87 year old Charlie Logsdon of Litchfield was traveling eastbound in the westbound lane when the two vehicle collided. Both Robert and Madeline were ejected from the motorcycle and Robert died at the scene.

18 year old Madeline was arched to Saint John’s in Springfield. Logsdon was transported to Saint Francis Hospital in Litchfield with non-life threatening injuries. The Illinois State Police continue to investigate the crash. The westbound lane was closed for about 4 hours after the crash.
