Illinois Sheriff’s Association Warns Of Fraud

The Illinois Sheriffs’ Association advises Illinois residents there is currently a phone campaign fraudulently using the name of the Illinois Sheriffs’ Association in their solicitation.

The Illinois Sheriffs’ Association never solicits by phone. If you get a phone solicitation for money, remember these telemarketing tips: Offers too good to be true usually are. Ask to receive the amazing offer in writing so you may read it before making a commitment. Never give personal information over the phone or internet. Legitimate callers will never ask for this information over the phone. If a caller asks you to pay for an offer in advance or asks for your credit card number or Social Security number, tell them you do not give out personal information on the phone.

If you think you received a fraudulent phone call, contact your local Sheriff’s Department. You can reach the Bond County Sheriff’s Department at 664-2151.
